Artist's Comments

I don't think I've posted any pictures of this guy yet.
This is Sebastian, who might be a demon.

I used Illustrator for this, which is both amazing fun and awesome and immensely frustrating at the same time. Still, I like the way it turned out.

Critiques as always loved.

I've been thinking about getting Illustrator for a while because I kind of like drawing neat and clean lines, even if they are vectors. Personally I think this stands out the most in your gallery, it seems to be your forte.

Thanks. I plan to do some more of these when I have the time.

I think Illustrator is great for the kind of cel-shaded look, and I would absolutely recommend it, especially if you're a student, because the discount is amazing. You can also get some really cool effects drawing realistically...
I always get frustrated trying to do lineart in photoshop, for the same reason you mentioned; I always want it to be cleaner, and illustrator helps with that.

The only downside is it's kind of a counter-intuitive way to draw; it's more like making pictures out of (extremely versatile) paper cut-outs than drawing. Once you get used to that, though, it's awesome. And the vector thing just means you can make it whatever size you want with no loss of quality, so yeah.

It is; it's a vector program, which means you can make the piece any size you want without a loss in quality, and you can get really crisp edges like that. There's several free ones, the most popular seems to be Inkscape, if you're interested in trying it out and don't want to shell out cash for Adobe stuff.
